Abstract:

An analytical approach for estimating the response statistics of hysteretic systems subjected to Gaussian or Non-Gaussian white noise excitation is proposed. A generalized Ito moment equation is used for the case of the non-Gaussian excitation. An exponential probability density function is employed for the truncation of the moment equations of hysteretic systems following the Baber-Bouc-Wen model. The density assumed guarantees positive probability function but requires extensive calculations.
