Abstract:

A coastal resort project was planned for a 30 hectare site along the Arabian Gulf approximately 69 km south of Kuwait City at Dubaiyeh. The master plan, originally developed by Kuwait Engineers Office (1982) called for a man-made tidal lagoon system including a marina, and a channel connecting the system to the gulf. The goals of the preliminary engineering study were to identify major design constraints, provide quantitative physical data for the design of the lagoon and channel, assess the general environmental concerns and revise the conceptual design.
