Abstract:

This paper provides an overview of probabilistic project scheduling methodologies and tools. It emphasizes the practical application of Monte Carlo simulation in modeling activity durations. Commercial software for probabilistic scheduling and their limitations in dealing with correlations between activities are discussed. Two case studies are briefly described to show applications of probabilistic scheduling using network and non-network approaches.
