Abstract:

Following renewed interest in the semi-rigid properties of joints in steel frame structures, a more recently identified area of research has been the study of composite connections. The paper provides a synthesis of recent studies of joint behavior and its design approximation. The role of composite joint action and the aspects related to manageable design procedures are also discussed.
