Abstract:

Performance of TLD, based on the full-scale measurement of an actual tall building, is discussed in this paper. Wind induced vibration of the SYP Tower was measured during a gusty day, before and after installation of the TLD to confirm the effectiveness of the TLD for the vibration suppression. The vibration of the SYP Tower was reduced to about half upon installation of the TLD. The reduced vibration level after installation is in range acceptable from the viewpoint of comfort and serviceability.
