In the design of concrete block foundations for rotating and reciprocating machines, it is important to avoid resonant conditions. Therefore, accurate determination of the frequencies of the machine-foundation system is an essential task in dynamic machine foundation design. Since the translational and the rotational motions of the system are generally coupled, the coupled frequency should be calculated and compared with the operating frequency of the machine.
