Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Automated People Movers IV

Abstract:

Even in the firsts master plan designs for the Charles De Gaulle (CDG) Airport, an internal people mover (PM) link was imagined to serve the airport. Thirty years after the original master plan was drafted and 22 years after the first flight, this link will open in 1996. Following an international tendering and selection process of 18 months and 3 1/2 years of studies, prototyping, works and trials, the SK system was chosen by Aeroports de Paris. The selected consortium (RATP, Soule and Credit local de France) has committed to finance, design, supply, and operate two PM lines (3.5 km, 5 stations; 800 m, 3 stations) for the twenty years of operation.
