Abstract:

Numerous tests with different types of composite slabs have been carried out in the laboratory for constructional engineering of the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany in order to determine design values for their load carrying capacity. This paper illustrates a modern design method for ductile composite slabs - the partial connection theory - which will be included in the new European regulations for composite constructions, Eurocode 4 (1992). In particular the corresponding design procedure is explained.
