Abstract:

A hydrodynamic model is developed for San Elijo Lagoon, a wetland with tidally influenced area of 1.5 km2 (380 acres). A quasi two-dimensional (2-D) model was formulated with slough channel flow treated as one-dimensional (1-D) and the heavily vegetated overbank areas of the marsh plain modeled as storage areas. Model results show the inlet reach conditions have strong influence on the hydrodynamics of the lagoon.
