Abstract:

Geologic samples are a primary source of data for the Yucca Mountain Site Characterization Project (YMP). The collection and study of the samples is regulated by requirements which mandate complete documentation of their identify and history, so that may data submitted in support of site licensing may be traced accurately to their source. Geologic samples are curated at the Sample Management Facility (SMF) located near Yucca Mountain. The MacCSITS database is a tracking and inventory system designed to ease the task of documenting YMP samples.
