Abstract:

A Lagrange formulation is applied to tall buildings using tuned mass damper. The resulting equations of motion are analyzed using a frequency window method. The method reduces the computational complexity of the problem. Closed-form expressions for the natural frequencies are obtained to contain parameters with direct physical interpretations. It is shown that the wind-induced responses are obtained with greater accuracy.
