A Mathematical Tool Set for SORM Reliability Methods

by Karl Breitung, Univ of New South Wales, Kensington,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Probabilistic Mechanics and Structural and Geotechnical Reliability

Abstract:

FORM and SORM methods are used for approximating failure probabilities. Here an overview of the main mathematical results of SORM methods is given: Classification of asymptotic behavior, simplified calculation of the curvature factor, asymptotic distribution in the failure domain, asymptotic methods in the original space, parameter sensitivity.
