Abstract:

The majority of U.S. marinas presently in place, were funded historically with highly leveraged debt. The paper discusses the question what impact recent U.S. economic and financial source disturbances will have on the future development, ownership and use of marinas. Further, what techniques and practices within the industry can be utilized to enhance investment and financing participation in the coming years. The attention to business practice detail, good financial management and innovative techniques will be the character of successful marina management to the end of the decade. Adopting a responsive and rsponsible role in dealing with the financial markets will result in meeting the debt/equity needs of the industry.
