Abstract:

This proceedings, World Marina '91, consists of papers presented at the First International Conference held in Long Beach, California, September 4-8, 1991. It addresses the operation and development of harbors and boating facilities associated with the needs of recreational boating. Since the development of quality marina facilities and operation management are important factors in the continued increase in popularity of sport and pleasure navigation throughout the world, various broad issues such as water quality, marine habitat protection and mitigation, and local social and economic needs must be considered. Within these broad categories, such topics as user identification, innovative breakwater designs, floating dock systems, basin management, marina regulations, ice engineering, and dry stack operations are discussed along with case studies related to these various issues.
