by Christopher D. Ungate, TVA Reservoir Operation and Planning, Review, Knoxville, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Hydraulic Engineering

Abstract:

Under the Tennessee Valley Authority's Lake Improvement Plan, approved by the Board of Directors in February 1991, minimum flows will be provided systemwide, the releases from 16 dams in the eastern half of the Tennessee Valley will be aerated to improve dissolved oxygen in tailwaters, and summer lake levels will be improved on tributary storage reservoirs. The changes will enhance the environment, recreational opportunities and economic development in the Tennessee Valley while providing continuing benefits for navigation, flood control and hydropower.
