Abstract: This proceedings, Hydraulic Engineering, contains papers presented at the National Conference on Hydraulic Engineering, held in Nashville, Tennessee, July 29-August 2, 1991. The conference provided a forum for advancement of scientific knowledge and promotion of sound engineering in all areas related to hydraulics and hydrology. Emphasizing newly emerging problem areas, new methodology or suggested new directions for hydraulic research, many papers focus on such topics as: 1) Sedimentation; 2) appropriate technology for developing countries; 3) exclusive economic zone hydraulics; 4) hydraulic data acquisition; 5) innovative hydraulic structures; and 6) water quality applications of hydraulic research, including the hydraulics of aerating turbines and wetlands. In addition, traditional topics such as hydraulic and hydrologic extremes, highway drainage, overtopping protection of dams, spillway design, scale models, GIS and expert system applications, and flood control investigations are also discussed.
