Abstract:

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Environmental River Resource Aid (TERRA) is a computer workstation graphics display that tracks environmental variables in the power service area. TERRA interfaces with various databases to provide near real-time data for reservoir and power system scheduling. Measured and forecasted temperature displays are used to guide operation of power plants and dams that control water to meet both safety and environmental limits.
