Foreign Hydraulic Standards and Guidelines

by Walter O. Wunderlich,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Hydraulic Engineering

Abstract:

Standardization in Europe is propelled by the incentive to achieve harmonization of design, testing, inspection and certification methods for an internal market among eighteen European countries by 1992. The European standards organizations, CEN and CENELEC, have the mandate of developing European standards by adapting existing national and international standards or creating their own. These European standards (EN) will supersede national and international standards in the member countries. Before this backdrop, the paper examines the state of foreign standards in hydraulics.
