Appropriate Technology in Infrastructure Development and Management

by Neil S. Grigg, Colorado State Univ, Forth Collins, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Hydraulic Engineering

Abstract:

Infrastructure management principles apply to appropriate technologies used for hydraulic structures. However, some of the principles are more culturally sensitive than others, mainly organizational principles. Others, especially O&M and project management principles, apply to all technological settings. Paying for infrastructure is a critical problem in many societies where the use of effective, appropriate technology is critical.
