Abstract:

A vadose zone monitoring program has been developed using basin lysimeters to evaluate the environmental impacts of a sanitary waste landfill. Lysimeter systems, consisting of collection basins and collection sumps and risers, will be installed beneath the landfill to collect leachate. Leachate chemistry and production information will be evaluated using a set of analytical steps to assess the impact of leachate on ground water quality.
