Abstract:

The aeolian wind tunnel is a useful tool for investigating not only the saltation physics of wind-driven sand, soil or snow, but also for determining the time-dependent development of drift topography at small scale. A moire photographic technique has been used to determine the effect of aspect ratio of circular cylinders on drift topographic development. The required minimum dimensions of aeolian wind tunnels are also discussed.
