Part of: Hydraulic Engineering

Abstract:

Experimental results are presented of hydraulic forces acting on an underflow gate. Underflow gate is a socalled bluff body and a review of the mechanism of vibration caused by separation of the flows due to sharp edge is given. These type of gates have various forms of edges and the effects of these edges on the vibration are examined. The test results differentiate the virbration characteristics between the different edge forms.
