Abstract:

This proceedings consists of papers presented at the ASCE National Convention on Hydraulic Engineering given July 30 to August 3, 1990 in San Diego, California. The Conference provided a forum for discussion and exchange of information on hydraulic engineering and related subjects. Analysis of hydraulic structures, open channel hydraulics, physical hydraulic modeling, watershed runoff processes, water resources engineering, computational hydrology and hydraulics, flood routing and unsteady flow models are topics included in this publication. Many of the papers are concerned with the issues of sedimentation and erosion. In addition to sediment transport, fluvial processes in rivers, stable alluvial channel and riprap design, erosion and alluvial bed forms are discussed. Several papers on urban stormwater management included such topics as environmental aspects of hydraulic engineering, water quality and pollutants in surface flow. Other subjects explored in the proceeding were ocean outfalls, coastal processes diffuser and plume modeling, risk analysis and real-time hydrologic forecasting. Thus, by presenting a broad range of topics in this field, this proceeding presents the state-of-the-art in hydraulic engineering.

Subject Headings: Hydraulic engineering | Hydraulic models | Hydraulic structures | Hydrologic models | Alluvial channels | Coastal processes | Water resources
