Abstract:

A new method of drawing flownets for determining seepage losses in earth dams is developed. The flow and equipotential lines are drawn by modifying W. Kinzelbagh's method. The modification allows adjustable spacing between the grid lines and attains greater accuracy. Even a part of the flow domain can be analyzed to obtain the grid that further simplifies the analysis.
