Abstract:

As general consultant to the Tampa-Hillsborough County Expressway Authority, Howard, Needles, Tammen and Bergendoff (HNTB) was responsible for the environmental permitting required for the design and construction of the Northwest Hillsborough Expressway. The project design was completed by nine different engineering firms, and included approximately 18 miles of urban and rural limited access expressway, within and north of the City of Tampa. HNTB was responsible for the coordination of pre-permit application meetings; preparation and submittal of the permit application packages; and the development of a mitigation plan to offset adverse impacts. In this capacity, HNTB reviewed design drawings, data, and calculations prepared by the subconsultants, and determined their consistency with all applicable environmental regulations.
