Abstract:

The CICIND Model Code for Concrete Chimneys was created by CICIND, an international technical association which has as one of its main aims the creation of harmonized internationally accepted codes for industrial chimneys. The CICIND Model Code is based firmly on probability theory. It uses the method of partial safety factors. These safety factors are determined in such a way that all chimney structures designed according to the Model Code show a uniform failure probability of approximately 1/10000 in 50 years.
