Abstract:

Approximate probability densities are obtained for the response of hysteretic systems under Gaussian white-noise excitations. The method of analysis is applicable to either bilinear or smooth type hysteresis, and it is accurate for wide ranges of excitation levels and system parameters as shown by comparison with available simulation results.
