Abstract:

A survey of bridge concepts built in recent years by the State Enterprise Dopravni Stavby, Olomouc that ranks among the largest building trade firms in Czechoslovakia. This firm chooses those statical systems which give a clear idea of the force effects and have clear shapes. It prefers grid structures because these show the effects of internal forces by their articulated views. Wide box girders are designed where torsional rigidity is needed and for bridges of larger elevated spans.
