Abstract:

Crop water use information is essential for sound water management and conservation in irrigated agriculture. Many water management technologies are often inapplicable until accurate and representative crop evapotranspiration data are available to the irrigator as needed. The canvas covered Bellani plate atmometer is an evaporation device. The atmometer was evaluated to determine its utility as an estimator of crop water use and thus as an aid in on-farm irrigation scheduling.
