Abstract:

In order to assemble experiences, settle and systematize the problems connected with rehabilitating and redeveloping hydro power plants and to work out proposals a project titled 'Refurbishment and Modernization of Hydroelectric Power Stations' has been carried out by an expert group of the Swedish Power Association (private and municipal owned companies) in cooperation with the Swedish State Power Board. The project which was carried out of six working groups during 1982-1985, resulted in reports dealing with the individual problem areas: finance and planning; dams, waterways and buildings; turbines; generators; other electrical equipment; and control equipment. The paper is about the project.
