Abstract:

The effect of the local buckling is included in the cyclic analysis of tubular members. The cyclic moment-curvature curves are obtained numerically. Three types of closed form expressions proposed previously, for the reversed loading branch of cyclic moment-curvature curves, are modified for the cases in which unloading starts in the post-local-buckling regime. The closed form expressions for the moment-curvature relationship are combined with the assumed deflection method to obtain the analytical expressions for the cyclic behavior of tubular members. The developed expressions are used to study the effects of the key parameters on the cyclic behavior of tubular braces.
