Abstract:

This volume includes the papers presented at the 6th Structures Congress of ASCE which deal with the analysis, design, and behavior of civil engineering structures and facilities subjected to earthquake, wind, blast, and impact loads. The topics covered range from theoretical developments in the areas of deterministic and probabilistic structural analysis, dynamics, and stability, to the results of experimental studies conducted in the laboratory or in wind tunnels, as well as instrumentation and observation of actual structures, risk assessment of facilities under wind or earthquake, and practical design considerations. Buildings, long span bridges, and dams are considered. By putting together in one volume the papers presented at various sessions, it is expected to provide an integrated view of recent developments in the various phases of the analysis and design of structures under dynamic loads.

Subject Headings: Dynamic structural analysis | Earthquake resistant structures | Dynamic loads | Wind engineering | Structural dynamics | Structural behavior | Wind tunnel
