Abstract:
Two issues of distribution network reliability, namely, probability of pipe failure and probability of the design flow being exceeded have been discussed. Expressions containing measures of the two issues have been incorporated as chance-constraints into a mathematical formulation for determining the least cost of distribution networks. However, direction is required for changes to the model parameters so as to achieve, at least cost, the greatest improvements in network reliability.
