Abstract:
To combat rising energy costs, Southwire Company, a manufacturer of wire and cable products headquartered in Carrollton, Georgia, began generating its own electrical power at the company's Wyre Wynd division in Jewett City, Connecticut. Today, the new 2. 75 MW low-head hydro plant provides Wyre Wynd with a renewable source of energy that has stabilized the division's energy costs.
