Part of: Microcomputer Applications Within the Urban Transportation Environment

Abstract:

The Brockton Area Transit Authority has from its beginning monitored ridership and service in order to evaluate its performance. Prior to 1981 all processing of that information was done manually. In 1981, in response to a need for a faster, less cumbersome process, a number of micro-computer programs were developed which allowed the data collected to be easily processed and stored. After the data on ridership and service was stored in micro-computer files, various other programs were written to access and use this database.
