by Harold C. Marden, Jr., DuPont, Engineering Dep, Wilmington, DE, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: The Role of the Resident Engineer

Abstract:

Owners have recognized that corporate profitability depends not only on the professional skills applied to plant operations but also on the cost effectiveness of plant construction and maintenance. The owner, represented by his Resident Engineer, supplies the broader understanding necessary to weigh 'Business Needs' against 'Project Needs' in the construction environment, and make those decisions that will most benefit the company. This paper examines Du Pont's perspective of the Owner - Resident Engineer, and the key role he plays in maintaining a flexible, responsive, and cost-effective method of Construction management in today's competitive environment.
