How to Make Automated Transportation Profitable!

by Byron L. Johnson, Univ of Colorado at Denver, Denver, CO, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Automated People Movers: Engineering and Management in Major Activity Centers

Abstract:

The paper discusses an approach to analyzing why past systems attracted investors. It suggests, first; remember why the auto and truck have captured the bulk of the market. Second; accept the logic of an automated, elevated, light-weight transportation grid. Third; accept the wisdom of the early builders of transit, that if it will haul people, it will haul goods. Fourth; invite joint development at every station. Fifth; encourage creative financing from the outset.
