Abstract:

Centrifugally cast GRP pipes were introduced in Sweden 17 years ago for industrial applications mainly as a gravity pipe. The process of pipe manufacturing as well as the pipe itself and the jointing technique has been improved because of considerable development work. Simultaneously, work has been done in establishing performance requirements for underground installation of GRP pipes both for gravity purposes as well as for pressure applications. Extensive long term testing has been performed on the pipes considering stresses from external and internal loads. Centrifugally cast GRP pressure pipes today are generally accepted in Sweden by public works not only for gravity installations but also for pressure applications.
