Abstract:

Findings of the Task Committee for the Design of Outlet Control Structures, an ASCE Technical Committee, regarding maintenance, safety and aesthetic considerations for stormwater detention pond oulet works are summarized. A well designed, regularly maintained outlet works can be safe, attractive, and can fulfill required hydraulic functions economically. Addressing safety, maintenance and aesthetic considerations concurrently facilitates outlet of a desirable, multipurpose facility.
