Abstract:
The passenger terminal complex at Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport has a unique configuration, conceived to minimize the inter-plane transfer of passengers. The world record of 138 airplane gates is arrayed along four air buildings. An underground spine connects these gates with the landside building (ticketing and baggage claim), and the spine includes people mover trains and a moving sidewalk.
