Storms and the Occurrence of a Turbidity Interface/Maxima in a Fresh Water Estuary

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Sediment Transport Modeling

Abstract:

A combination of Landsat, field data and modeling analyses reveals a turbidity interface/maxima in the lower reaches of a freshwater tributary or 'estuary.' Mode coupling with Lake Erie and especially reverse flows, are seen as major dynamical components of this feature. Strong changes in the character of the sediment occur in this interface region.
