Abstract:

Reduced costs and complexity are encouraging more operational use of eddy correlation (EC) and energy balance Bowen ratio (EBBR) instrumentation for estimating evapotranspiration. Often little concern is given to the conditions under which valid estimates are obtained. Site requirements for one-dimensional transport are reviewed and instrumentation and logistical requirements of the EBBR and EC methods are compared. An EBBR and EC system is briefly described and measurements from a field trial shown.
