Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Urban Runoff Quality: Impact and Quality Enhancement Technology

Abstract:

This paper first attempts to characterize the types of pollutants which could be expected to enter an estuary from urban runoff. Then, based on existing knowledge of the impacts of various types of pollutants on estuarine organisms and ecosystems, speculations are made concerning the potential impact of urban runoff on estuaries. Finally, some of the critical research questions which must be addressed in order to ameliorate the impacts of urban runoff are discussed.
