Abstract:

The new Computer Aided Engineering Laboratory (CAE) at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa., was established as an adjuncta supplementto the faculty and is dedicated to teaching civil engineering, not computer expertise. The students learn from menu driven programs, mostly written in-house. The lab's Data General MV/10000 is capable of 3D modelling. Creating expert systems, a cooperative research with industry and linking the computer with instrumentation in the Fritz Laboratory are on the Lab's agenda.
