Abstract:

Proceedings of a session at the ASCE National Convention held in Hollywood, Florida, October 27-31, 1980. Sponsored by the Committee on Properties of Materials of the ASCE Engineering Mechanics Division. Fracture in Concrete contains eight papers covering a broad range of relevant issues in concrete fracturing. Topics include determination of fracture toughness of concrete, the cracking and fracture of mortar, fracture mechanics of reinforced concrete, influence of notch dimensions on the effective surface energy and notch-sensitivity of cement compounds, a plastic-fracture model for concrete, and resistance to crack growth in Portland Cement Composites. These proceedings will be of interest to both practitioners and researchers working with concrete.
