Abstract:

This Code of Practice of the American Society of Civil Engineers is prepared with the hope that it may prove of value to those engaged in construction, without interfering with other codes prepared for specific purposes. This code of practice is intended as a statement of conduct which is correct under most conditions. It is intended not as a code of laws, but as a set of statements so generally true that there is a burden upon the Engineer to observe them, except when he/she shall satisfy himself/herself that in his/her particular situation the statement made does not apply. Topics include the relations of engineers among themselves, the relations of the engineer with the owner, relations concerning contractors, relations concerning sub-contractors and material men, and relations with the public.

Subject Headings: Standards and codes | Contracts and subcontracts | Value engineering | Public opinion and participation | Owners | Laws and regulations | Construction management
