Abstract:
With the ongoing NPDES Stormwater Permits, TMDL programs, and the increase in environmental awareness, many municipalities are challenged to address the relatively new concept of cleaning pollutants from stormwater runoff. The task of cleaning stormwater runoff is comprised of several components such as regulations for new development, retrofitting existing developed areas, erosion and sediment control, public education and participation, and street sweeping. This guide covers permanent structural techniques that can be used for retrofitting the stormwater management systems in existing developed areas.
