Abstract:
Ideally, aging infrastructure systems should be monitored for safety and repaired in case of need. Eventually, authors believe that symptom-based reliability will be useful for safety monitoring. In this paper, the symptom-based reliability is described, steps for using symptom-based reliability in safety monitoring is outlined. Moreover, the cost management of aging civil infrastructure is discussed in terms of a value chain.
