Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Sand Rights '99: Bringing Back the Beaches

Abstract:

California's beaches are among the state's most valuable and most intensively used natural resources. To date, although erosion is occurring in most part of California's coastline, there has been no comprehensive documentation of the long-term changes in the width or health of the state's beaches. To develop new approaches to address the problem, two fundamental and guiding principles that affect the future of the coastal zone are outlined.
