Abstract:

The city of Springfield, Missouri, initiated a $12-million, 12-year infiltration and inflow elimination program for its sanitary sewer system after a federal lawsuit was filed to seek $75 million in damages for overflows. The program, which is being managed and conducted by city personnel, includes hydraulic modeling, sewer profiling, manhole and pipeline renewal efforts, and the addition of relief sewers.
